Take Part

Have you or a loved one been diagnosed with dementia in the past 6 months?

We aim to find out which groups of people have better or worse outcomes following diagnosis of dementia and why there are inequalities in care and outcomes. What we learn from the experiences of people with dementia and their carers will be used to deliver care and support that will give everyone the best possible quality of life.

Who can take part?

You may be eligible to take part in the study if you have been diagnosed with dementia in the last 6 months and identify as part of an underserved ethnic or religious group, and live in the following areas:

  • Sussex

  • Surrey

  • Kent

  • London

  • Newcastle

  • Nottingham

You may also be eligible to take part if you identify as LGBTQIA+ and have been diagnosed with dementia at any time point.

Why take part in the DETERMIND study?

DETERMIND is one of the biggest Dementia studies to ever be conducted in the UK and will include the voices of hundreds of people with dementia. You can be a part of it by sharing your story with our researchers. The results of the study will be used to help inform policy and improve the lives of other people with dementia, their carers and families.

What will taking part involve?

A pair of researchers will visit you in your home to ask you questions about your health, memory and well-being. A friend, family member or other carer can be present during the visit. The visit should not last longer than 2 hours.
