DETERMIND - Your experience of receiving a dementia diagnosis

Join our new study!

We have an exciting opportunity to take part in a study which has been linked to DETERMIND. This study wants to find out about people’s experiences of receiving their dementia diagnosis.

We have heard in our main DETERMIND study that experiences of diagnosis can vary from person to person, so we think it is important to explore these further. This will allow us to improve the quality of dementia diagnoses in future.

Who can take part?

We are looking for people diagnosed with dementia within the last six months and their carers who were present at the diagnosis appointment.

No matter what your experience, we would love to hear from you!

What does taking part involve?

  • You will complete questionnaires which will ask about your diagnosis experience and about your background.

  • Three months later, you will complete questionnaires about your wellbeing.

  • You can take part at home with a researcher, online, via the post, over the phone or virtually.

  • Each stage of questionnaires will take 30 minutes to one hour to complete.

Why take part?

The ultimate aim is to improve the diagnosis experience for all. People also often tell us that they find taking part in research a rewarding thing to do.
