Opening our Nottingham site
Authors: Jessie Elcome and Anushka Nair
We are pleased to announce the opening of the Nottingham site for the DETERMIND Study, marking an important step in expanding our research across the UK. The DETERMIND Study is now being coordinated by Nottingham, with the University of Nottingham acting as the study sponsor.
This allows us to strengthen our reach and engagement, especially within the Midlands, and supports our ongoing commitment to understanding the diverse experiences of dementia across various communities.
With the Nottingham site now active, we are focusing on recruiting participants across the Midlands region. This includes individuals living with dementia, and their carers, with a particular emphasis on engaging with communities that are often underserved within dementia research. Specifically, we will be helping to drive recruitment for the Seldom Heard Groups study, where we hope to speak to individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community or from minoritised ethnic groups.
Supporting the work at Nottingham are our new research assistants, Jessie and Anushka, who will be working with organisations like the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation trust, and various community groups in and around the Nottinghamshire area, as well as coordinating with our other existing sites across London and Sussex.
We are grateful for all the work that has been completed so far at Nottingham and look forward to working with communities in the Midlands region, to better understand diverse dementia experiences and improve care pathways.
